Health Ministry Finds 12th Monkeypox Case in Phnom Penh Man

 


This morning, on February 15, 2024, the Ministry of Health issued a press release regarding the diagnosis of another case of Mpox in Phnom Penh. This marks the 12th confirmed case in the country.

According to the results obtained from the National Institute of Public Health on February 13, 2024, a man residing in Meanchey district, Phnom Penh, has been diagnosed with Mpox, also known as monkeypox. The patient is currently receiving treatment at a hospital. With this new case, a total of 12 Mpox cases have been identified.

The Ministry of Health notes that the transmission of Mpox in Cambodia is on the rise, mirroring the global trend. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of January 25, 2024, Mpox has spread to 117 countries, resulting in a total of 93,030 Mpox infections and 176 deaths worldwide.

In light of this situation, the health ministry urges all citizens to prioritize personal and family health to prevent further spread of Mpox. It emphasizes the importance of understanding how the virus spreads and the necessity of adhering to strict preventive measures.

Together, by staying informed and taking necessary precautions, we can mitigate the spread of Mpox within communities and on a larger scale.
